The Bahrain Malayalee CSI Parish Youth Movement was set up in 1998, under the guidance and leadership of the then Vicar, Rev. Chandy Thomas. Â Over the years, the youth fellowship has grown to become an integral part of the church. Currently the fellowship which started off with 8 members has a strength of 25. Some of the activities undertaken by the Youth Movement are:
Youth Fellowship Meetings: Held every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at the Parsonage. The meetings are convened by the Youth Secretary and the president (the vicar) addresses the youth regarding various topics that influence them in this age. The members conduct quizzes and group discussions amongst themselves. Upcoming events are also planned at these meetings.
Prayer Meetings: The Youth fellowship gathers for a night of prayer and Bible study every last Tuesday of the month at 8 PM.
Yuva dhwani – The voice of the Youth: The quarterly news letter published by the Youth movement is a forum for us to express our views and to share our thoughts on the topics that concern us.
Missionary Support: In support of the missionary activities undertaken by the CSI MKD, the Youth Movement provides financial support for a Missionary in Chinnakoduppakka, Andhra Pradesh and funds the education of 4 children in the mission school.
Medical Camp: As a part of our social responsibility, the youth movement conducts a free medical camp every year in association with the KIMS Bahrain Medical Centre for workers from various small establishments.
Blood Donation camp: The Youth Movement holds an annual blood donation camp in Dec/Jan in association with the Salmaniya Medical Complex. All members of the church are invited to participate in the event.
Youth Special Service and retreat: Every year, the first week of December is dedicated to the youth movement. A special service is held in which the youth members take the lead in the scripture reading, offertory and message. A retreat is also conducted to prepare the youth for this rededication service.
Competitions: The youth movement conducts various competitions throughout the year in an attempt to develop our skills. This also acts as a platform for people to showcase their talents.
